Sailing Through Winds and Waves, We Will Hoist the Sails to Cross the Vast Seas

Lately, the stream of bad news has been unrelenting, leaving no room for optimism.

The trade war rages on, Pinduoduo—a platform selling low-cost goods—has gone public, and by July, car sales had nearly collapsed.

All signs point to a decline in consumer spending power, and business is becoming increasingly difficult. Already in low spirits, I found myself even more anxious when Xinhua News Agency called on everyone to "overcome hardships together." When anxiety builds, it inevitably leads to absurd and extreme imaginings, all of which are negative. Pessimism rises, confidence plummets, and the imagined future becomes bleak and suffocating. In such a state, one’s vision shrinks to within 5 centimeters, oblivious to the bright spring sunlight just beyond.

A few days ago, Zhao Gong shared with me his struggles. He’s thinking of transferring his household registration to Shenzhen because his child is about to start school. But he also feels conflicted and anxious because he owns a little over an acre of paddy fields back in his hometown of Loudi, Hunan.

This is, in fact, an unfortunate joke. How little confidence must one have to wrestle with the trade-off between a plot of farmland and a child’s education?

Lack of confidence is truly frightening.

The tides rise and fall—it’s a natural law and nothing to fear.“Do not let passing clouds block your view; always keep the larger picture in mind.” Chairman Mao’s words are worth remembering.

On August 17, 300 managers of Shenzhen Hengchen Electric Co., Ltd. gathered at Chunmangyuan to celebrate the company’s 19th anniversary.

Considering that the average lifespan of Chinese companies is only 3.9 years, Hengchen has every reason to be proud of its healthy growth over 19 years, remaining strong and robust. Over the past year, the unfavorable overall environment has presented some bottlenecks and challenges for the company’s business development. However, such difficulties are not new in Hengchen’s 19-year history. During a strategic seminar, the President and decision-makers faced the problems head-on and implemented significant adjustments to the business models across divisions. Thanks to the relentless efforts of all employees, things are moving in a positive direction.

At the anniversary banquet, MID Division General Manager Li Zongjun, Hengdu Manufacturing Base Director Zhang Shaoshan, and Automotive Electronics Aftermarket Division General Manager Guo Jifang each gave detailed reports on their respective business areas. Through comprehensive data comparisons, various ongoing product collaboration cases, and subsequent planning objectives, they showcased the rapid progress and development achieved across departments over the past year. The President also delivered a timely and inspiring speech emphasizing “Perseverance, Mission, and Struggle,” which greatly bolstered everyone’s confidence.

The 19-year journey of Hengchen has shown us that external circumstances, whether favorable or unfavorable, are not critical. It is tenacious hard work that serves as our essential tool for overcoming challenges. No matter the highs or lows, we firmly believe that our destiny remains in our own hands!

“There will be a time to ride the winds and break the waves; we will hoist our sails to cross the vast seas.”Let us maintain our confidence, work together, and create new brilliance for Hengchen as we move into the next 20 years!
